In this conversation, Sam speaks with meditation teacher John Astin about the nature of first-person experience—and the psychological freedom that can be discovered when we investigate it directly. John's unique approach of "experiential inquiry" invites us to examine what lies underneath the words and concepts we use to label experience, so we can more deeply explore "the texture of the moment.”
John Astin is a meditation teacher, musician, and the author of four books on spiritual practice, including Searching for Rain in a Monsoon. He has a Ph.D. in health psychology and is an adjunct professor of clinical and counseling psychology at Santa Clara and Notre Dame de Namur Universities.
